Indian Summer in Munich!

While the weather wasn't great for most of September in Munich, the last two weeks have been great. Temperatures around 15-20 degrees and nothing but sunshine all day long. This means that I have gotten around a bit more lately.

Last week I have been to Salzburg to visit my cousin and other friends later that day. As always, it was wonderful to see friends and family again. My cousin and I spent most of the day shopping, drinking coffee, and dying my hair dark-brown and her eye-lashes black. A perfect girl's day out!

Unfortunately I came down with a cold later that day, and when I met up with a friend from Canada (he was on exchange at Queen's last fall) on Tuesday, I really felt under the weather. This meant that I missed several classes later that week and was bed-bound until Sunday.

However, Sunday was a great day, and I went on my first sightseeing tour in Munich. I checked out the Nymphenburg Castle and the botanical garden. Be-autiful is all I can say. The castle's gardens stretches over a huge area and all you see is green grass, flowers, and little ponds. As my friend Mary said so correctly: You feel like a princess walking around in your gardens, waiting for the knight in his shiny armor.....

Then today I had a day off and went to Lake Starnberg in the outskirts of Munich. Again, the weather was perfect for a long walk around the shore and coffee on a nice terrasse. Starnberg is a beautiful small town, it also has very rich people living there. But if you see the scenery you understand why one would like to live there.

To top off this nice week - probably the last easy-going one for the semester - I will be going to my hometown in Austria this weekend. I'm looking forward to it! So expect more news next week :)
