Surprises in Budapest..

Well.. this city certainly has amazed me in numerous ways and instances. But there are two more things I have found out today:

1. There is considerable flooding from the Danube. So a lot of public transportation is not functioning and roads are closed.

But even more interesting, and somewhat scary:

2. There has been a bomb in the basement of our university yesterday. A student smuggled a self-made bomb into school and let it go off in the student's cafeteria in the afternoon. Thank god, noone was insured and the building is not really damaged. But it's quite frightening to think about what could have happened!

I always thought that Budapest was a very safe place, if you are somewhat careful... maybe I will have to reconsider!
