Holidays, Work and Motorcycles!

It's been a while since my last post, but that is due to the fact that I have no Internet in Vienna and haven't been at Clemens' place in a couple of weeks. As always, a lot has happened - and I have documented it all with pictures!! :)

At first, Clemens spent a weekend in Moscow, where he and a couple of his collegues danced at the Viennese Ball. It must have been a beautiful night and an interesting weekend overall.

The weekend after, we finally went Sailing to the Adriatic Sea. 4 days of summer, sun, sea, boating and fun!!! Clemens and I left on Wednesday evening to Portorose, where we arrived at midnight. On the following day, we walked around in this slovenian city and waited for the rest of our group. After a yummy lunch in Piran (also Slovenia) we finally boarded our sailing boat and the next day, we took off to Grado in Italy. The wind was perfect, the waves were nice and after only a few short hours we arrived in Italy, where we discovered the town and then had a nice dinner on the boat. On the following day we were on the sea for a long time as we went down to Umag (took us 6 hours) in Croatia. Again the late afternoon was spent with walks in the marina or the city and a delicious dinner that Clemens' dad and his girlfriend prepared for us on the boat. Unfortunately the next day was already our last day - the highlight of this day though was that we hat to tow a motorboat which had a dead engine on the sea. Though we only spent 4 days down south, they were one of the most relaxing four days ever!!

But the relaxation didn't last for THAT long as a very busy week at the office awaited me. Fortunately, my job is getting more and more interesting every day, and my boss challenges me, which I really appreciate!

This weekend we were supposed to spend in Wr. Neustadt for a festival from Clemens' fraternity. Yesterday we spontaneously decided though to take the afternoon 'off' and left for Upper Austria where we went on a motorcycle trip today. We went to three differen lakes over the course of the afternoon, went to a beach of one lake (lake Attersee), for a walk on the second (lake Laudachsee) and for coffee on the third one (Lake Traunsee). When we got back home we were lucky to not catch any rain and are now looking back to a beautiful afternoon on the bike!

Enjoy the pictures!!

Week 2 in Vienna

Week #2 in Vienna is over, and as always, every week brings more things to write about. Though I can't write too much about work, as I don't have a very stressful/busy usual day, I can report about a very interesting conference about traffic, telematics and intermodal logistics. I spent a whole day at the Marriott Hotel in Vienna, listening to presentations and podium discussions about transportation, led by a reknowned Austrian journalist. Beyond any doubt, it was the highlight of my week!

Apart from that, Clemens and I enjoyed last Sunday in Vienna all by ourselves, went to the 'House of the Ocean' and the Augarten (a park near my apartment), and watched a movie late that night.

This weekend I made the decision to finally, really, wholly and completely learn how to drive standard!!! After two driving lessons with the best teacher ever (Clemens) - who really told me how to do things and what to be careful about (it's more than just the clutch!) - I am starting to get the hang of it. So Nadine - if you'll ever let me try out your car again (see the post from August 2005) - no worries, from now on I won't abuse and hurt your car anymore!
